Celebrity Style Makeover

September 9, 2014

We love celebrities and quite possibly the only thing we love more than them is what they wear. Celebrity style has been a phenomenon in the women’s market for decades and is an obvious trend that is transitioning towards men. North American men have finally started taking a vested interest in the way they dress a trend that can be attributed to one single fact, the male celebrities they admire.

With the Toronto Film Festival in full swing, celebrity sightings have become common place. From Bill Murray joyriding about town on his bicycle to Adam Sandler grabbing a bite at the Thompson Dinner, A-list celebrities are everywhere and so are the paparazzi that stalk them.

With candid celebrity street style photos popping up daily we thought it would be interesting to approach the topic of style from the other side. We reached out to some of our in-house style experts to pick a celebrity they love and then an outfit that they’d love to style them in. From Denzel Washington to Chris Evans, here’s what they came up with.

Style Tips

Gentlemen, gentlemen.. Wool is hardly a hot weather textile- even if it is cashmere.  Warm climate dressing doesn’t immediately imply casual, especially in the context of an office environment. Choosing attire for these balmy, humid days is actually a simple proposition. You don’t need to change your style- merely need to adapt it to current conditions. For suiting, choose pieces made of lighter textiles and hues. If the office allows for more flexibility, we have sharp options galore; de-constructed jackets with short-sleeved shirt and tie combinations, and many, many chinos- in a striking array of colours. Staying cool, while looking accomplished is getting easier day by (scorching) day. Drop by the store or shop online for this season’s latest styles, not to mention our renowned Summer Sale

Style Tips

One of summer’s most lasting trends can also be impossibly difficult to pull off. The all-white look is tricky (almost as ambitious as the double-breasted blazer), yet done well is a sartorial statement like no other, reading as confident and sleek. Done wrong, and the shame shall haunt you for life- even after years of impeccable attire.

When aspiring to wear the milky hue, follow our simple rules and count the following editorial as a guide. White is a cool, summery shade and should always look effortless. Fit is crucial so slim and well-cut pieces are essential- too roomy equals disheveled (and not in the good way). Don’t over think it, keep it minimal, and refuse to shy away from adding punches of contrast for personality. Lastly, we cannot overestimate the importance of (fabric friendly) bleach. White should always be white.
