It’s not often that Melissa Austria truly opens up about her journey as an entrepreneur, so when Arlene Dickinsons‘ YouInc team approached her to share her story she realized that perhaps now was the time to finally let people in. In this exclusive YouInc profile, Melissa talks about just how close she came to losing her now thriving business – a series of bad breaks that included a partnership gone wrong, stress-induced shingles on her face, and coming only a few days away from closing her doors. This is Melissa like you’ve never seen before.

Thank you Arlene Dickinson and the YouInc team for this great feature!

Welcome to Day 3: Once again our day started bright and early, 7am to be exact. Our first appointment of the day and possibly our longest was with Eidos Napoli. This 100% Italian brand epitomizes sartorial elegance, quality and craftsmanship and has very quickly become one our favourite brands to carry. We met up with Antonio Ciongoli, Creative Director of Edios at their stunning presentation centre located in one of the coolest homes we’ve ever been too, this one was previously owned by non other than Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. After spending over three hours curating the collection we can certainly say that you guys are going to love what you see this Fall ’14 as we are the only retailer in all of Canada to have exclusive access to the brand.

From there we popped across town for a quick bite at Normas before heading to Dover Street Market for some creative inspiration. For those that aren’t familiar with Dover Street Market is a multilevel fashion retail store created by Rei Kawakubo of Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons. It is located in Dover StreetMayfairLondonTokyo & New York. Once we wrapped up at the market we returned to to hotel to freshen up before some late night schmoozing with some of our vendors where we… well, you know the saying, What happens in New York stays in New York!

Welcome to Day 2: Our day started promptly at 7:30am as we prepped ourselves for back to back showroom appointment across town. Our first destination was non other than Rogue where we got to check out the amazing collection for Fall ’14 and also got to meet the designer himself Jimmy Reilly. Though we can’t divulge the exact specs of what we’ve ordered suffice it to say we’ve got some incredible styles coming your way later this year. From there we headed to four other appointment that had us checking out some new brands like Soulland and Shades Of Grey and some of our regular favourites Moods Of Norway & Johnny Love. After wrapping up our appointments around 8pm we treated ourselves to a late night dinner at the amazing The Breslin restaurant at the Ace hotel where we are staying. For those keeping count, Day 2 = 13hrs straight, well that was easy!?
