What do you call a brand that has been through the War, the great depression and now the European crisis? Tiger! Tiger of Sweden started out in Uddevalla, Sweden back in 1903 and now is a global entity with shops in Sweden, Canada, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany and South Africa. Take into account their web store and a total of 1,200 re-sellers spanning 18 countries in 3 continents and you might have a sense for why this brand is a pillar in the fashion scene.

The root of what makes Tiger of Sweden different from other brands lies in their mission statement, “A Different Cut”. No matter how many different owners and designers have passed through this fashion house they have all practiced what they call “A Different Cut” – an expression that goes beyond what you can accomplish with fabrics, scissors, thread, and stitches. “A Different Cut” is a state of mind, one that encourages innovation and creativity. It is this mission statement that allowed the brand to persevere through some very troubled times and continues to make it the success it is today.

Tiger of Sweden  has come to be known for directional collections that seamlessly blend minimalism with true style. Their interpretation of the suit, frequently re-imagined, incorporates technology and tradition with first class fabric and superior cut and proportion. Risk taking is in their DNA.

Tiger of Sweden’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection is a striking mix of polished professionalism and unflappably cool Scandinavian streetwear. Tailored suits in warm and austere colours with metallic leather jackets- the Warhol inspired collection is all about contrast.

New Arrivals at Gotstyle

Beat your winter blues by taking solace in the fact that the official start to Spring is merely a month away. And with that in mind we’ve worked hard to start stocking our shelves with some great transitional styles and trends. First to arrive are these incredible suits and shirts from Tiger of Sweden and Stenstroms.

One of the hottest colour trends this coming Spring/Summer’13 season is the colour blue. No matter the hue, this classic, timeless colour pallet is back and stronger than ever. These suit options by Tiger of Sweden are a wonderful example of how you can adopt this trend into your Spring wardrobe. The Nedvin suit by Tiger of Sweden is a great silhouette for the modern man. The blazer is made from 100% wool, is tailored through the body, has the classic double ticket pocket and features a slim lapel. The trousers are trim fit and are ideal for men with a slightly slim to athletic build.

To complete these looks we’ve paired each suit with an exceptionally crafted shirt from Stenstroms. Another trend this season are classics, as such we’ve showcased shirts that feature timeless patterns, such as, the grid check and fine herringbone stripes. Match that with a widespread collar and you’ve got an outfit fit for any office/corporate setting.

When you pack your summer clothes away, make sure your fall clothes are two things: aesthetically and functionally appropriate. Basic items like shirts will get worn every day, and they need to look right for the season (bye, bye bright summer colours) as well as be made with a heavier fabric. Think plaids, earthy colours, warm tones, and muted shades in a thicker cotton.

I decided to push the envelope with Tiger of Sweden this season, while we’ll always have their slim basic suits and tuxedos in stock, I wanted to show some of their high fashion items at their fashionable low prices (the Swedes and Danes are best at this).

This super short and trim mini houndstooth suit with wide peaked lapel is priced at $795. Slim fit dress shirt with fashion short collar (perfect for those skinny ties) $165, available in white, black, beige and light blue.
