If we had a penny for every time a man told us he is either “too young, too old, too tall or too small etc. etc. etc.” to rock a particular style or trend, then there would be ten Gotstyles. The truth of the matter is, age has nothing to do with it, instead personality and attitude are the deciding factors in adopting a trend- and making it your own. The key to embracing a specific style or article of clothing is understanding how it works for you. Shorts are a first-rate example; styling them in your 20s often differs from how 50 year olds choose to wear them.
In this GS how-to, we showcase our wide selection of summer shorts and how to pull them off at any age. Clean and classic or super fashion-forward, there is definitely a pair for everyone.
Suits are an essential part of any gentlemen’s wardrobe and no one understands that better that Melissa. Which is why she’s made it her mission to carry a wide range of different brands to ensure that we have the right fit for your body.
In this latest episode, Melissa briefly talks about these 10 amazing brands and their unique features to guide you to the one that works best for you. But before you begin, click here to brush up on the key differences between a full canvas, half-canvas and fused suit
Channel the Italian jet-set and inherent chic of the green, white and red. Eidos, carried exclusively in Canada by GS, is made for the man who appreciates the essence of true style- clothes with soul. Steeped in a rich heritage of quality, the brand’s impressive range faultlessly addresses the current state of suiting- dressed up, but in an easy, effortless way. Their textile of choice- an impeccable full-canvas, for contemporary Fellini-esque looks that stroll the cobblestones or rule the concrete jungle.
Normally the sartorial territory of ship captains and French film stars, the rarified double breasted blazer is hitting city streets in updated, more off-beat versions. The spring/summer trend is still ultra refined, but now works with denim (in a shorter length), work-worthy suiting, sleek social or imposing formal looks. The DB blazer elevates the simple to slick- there is an interpretation for every man.
Welcome to Day 3: Once again our day started bright and early, 7am to be exact. Our first appointment of the day and possibly our longest was with Eidos Napoli. This 100% Italian brand epitomizes sartorial elegance, quality and craftsmanship and has very quickly become one our favourite brands to carry. We met up with Antonio Ciongoli, Creative Director of Edios at their stunning presentation centre located in one of the coolest homes we’ve ever been too, this one was previously owned by non other than Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. After spending over three hours curating the collection we can certainly say that you guys are going to love what you see this Fall ’14 as we are the only retailer in all of Canada to have exclusive access to the brand.
From there we popped across town for a quick bite at Normas before heading to Dover Street Market for some creative inspiration. For those that aren’t familiar with Dover Street Market is a multilevel fashion retail store created by Rei Kawakubo of Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons. It is located in Dover Street, Mayfair, London, Tokyo & New York. Once we wrapped up at the market we returned to to hotel to freshen up before some late night schmoozing with some of our vendors where we… well, you know the saying, What happens in New York stays in New York!
