what to wear right now

Living in Canada, having trust issues with weather is as engrained in us as saying “eh” or “sorry”. The weather throughout the day can range from -5° to +5°. A great way to stay stylish and ready for the unpredictable spring weather is through layering. We chose three go-to jackets to show you how it’s done and what to wear in this “in-between” weather.

Look 1

This water resistant Strellson jacket is made of lightweight man-made fibers so it is the perfect weight for transitioning from winter to spring. A simple formula when it comes to layering is to keep the certain key pieces neutral so it can be interchanged. We paired a lightly patterned blue shirt with a jersey grey blazer to compliment. The cool colour palette warrants a navy cardigan for extra warmth. We added more character to the outfit with the patterned chinos. Shoe selection is always crucial, we chose these precious brown wingtips to formalize the outfit to completion.

Strellson Water Repellant Jacket ($398), Blue Industry Jersey Blazer ($349)Individual Navy Knit Cardigan ($95), Blue Industry Circle Print Shirt ($170), Outclass Over Dyed Chino ($195), Krane Leather Portfolio ($175) Paradigma Leather Brogue ($375), Nixon Watch ($175)

Look 2

Rains is definitely a must have for unpredictable weather. It’s completely waterproof and lightweight making it easy to add extra layers for warmth. It’s exactly what to wear between winter to spring or spring to summer.

For a more casual look we paired it with a hoodie from Outclass along with a graphic tee from Aviator Nation. The name might ring a bell; they were recently announced one of the best new American designers by GQ. The print adds a pop of colour. We’re currently loving the new Outclass sneakers, the olive Italian calf leather with the suede heel gives a clean minimal finish.

Rains Classic Rain Jacket ($129), Outclass Hoodie ($185), Aviator Nation ($98), nudie jeans ($179), outclass sneakers ($395)

Look 3

You can’t go wrong with blue, white and khaki. Presented here with a black jacket from Selected Homme. A black transitional jacket is a versatile closet staple. It goes with essentially everything while keeping you cool and minimal, especially in this untrustworthy weather A great spring office look is a white oxford shirt layered with a blue linen crew neck (no tie), this offers a modern look to a classic silhouette while staying cool.

Selected Homme Transitional Jacket ($155), Blue Industry Smooth Stretch Chino($145), Strellson Traveller White Shirt ($178), Strellson Blue Luther Crew Neck ($168). Paradigma Black Monk Strap ($375) Nixon Watch ($175)

John Varvatos is a brand we look to for edgy menswear influenced by rock ‘n’ roll.
His pieces are a perfect balance of modern tailoring and that 90’s grunge/vintage style.
Think graphic tees, leather jackets, relaxed t-shirts and cool blazers.

The brand isn’t designed with an age in mind but rather a particular vibe. It’s for the guys
who are rebellious and like to push boundaries. The guy who walks with a sense of
authority but still manages to maintain a laidback attitude. If you’re that guy, you’re
a JV guy.

A couple of our favourite pieces from this season include a leather jacket that has fabric sleeves,
their Bowery denim which comes in a range of colours, and the “This Ain’t A Disco”
tee that really epitomizes the culture of the brand. Scroll down to take a look at some of
the John Varvatos pieces we got in- available in store and online.

Cahill + Defines SportLuxe Menswear

CAHILL+

Always a trailblazer, Tim Cahill is the first Australian sporting icon to build a designer sports-luxe brand for the male high-street consumer. Cahill+ was conceptualized in New York City, where Tim immersed himself in the cities vibrant design culture. Inspired by fashion luminaries – including long-term friend Giorgio Armani and industry wunderkind Alexander Wang – Cahill+ reflects modern men’s style, with a distinct sports-core aesthetic with a focus on luxury details. Armed with a strong vision of what he wanted to create, Tim Cahill partnered with Shoreditch fashion house to turn his vision into a commercial reality with head designer Alvin Manalo basing himself in New York to assist Tim in building the Cahill+ brand DNA. Working on the first collection, the Manalo/Cahill duo established a design aesthetic and product story that complemented the modern mans lifestyle. Key pieces in Tim’s own wardrobe provided initial insight into the shapes, silhouettes and product categories that would be fundamental to the Cahill+ brand. .

BRAND DNA & DESIGNS

CAHILL+ Campaign_Page_3

Cahill+ aims to marry athletic, sports-infused lifestyle-wear with luxurious fabrication, clever tailoring and utilitarian embellishments. Core pieces include the jogger pants, sports jackets and technical knits, with each piece featuring unique details and enhanced fabrics. Slimmer fits and cuff detailing brings a modern edge to pieces inspired by classic sporting silhouettes, while outwear is updated with technical materials and distinctive features.

The SS16 collection is inspired by Tim Cahill’s Asia Cup winning bicycle kick goal, this collection looks towards the bicycle messenger culture in New York City. Le Basket is a 24 hour deli on the corner of Broadway and West 3rd St, tucked between the East Village and Washington Square Park. It is the mecca for these modern day emissaries, a meeting point and hangout to check in with each other and share a pastrami sandwich and maybe a PBR. Their style is cool and unexpected. These young upstarts mix urban style with the utility and functionality needed to traverse the city grid on their bikes. Urban graphics are mixed with fixie bike culture.
