Our favorite artisan t-shirt line from Brooklyn is back in the store.

Paste’s graphic tees, designed by artist Jason Laurits, are hand-silkscreened in Brooklyn, NYC. Artwork is printed on Made-in-the-USA, 100% cotton tees that are enzyme-washed to battle shrinkage and to give a vintage-soft feel.

Through a digital medium, Laurits copies, cuts, and pastes over and over again to create the bold, whimsical, sometimes insightful, sometimes irreverent collages that Paste has become known for.

Laurits pulls from photographs of his own and ones found in the public domain, as well as old maps, vintage fabrics, family keepsakes, antique wallpaper, and anything else he can think of to get the perfect tee image.

I also love them because of the colors he uses for the t-shirts – perfect for transitioning into Fall with rust reds, deep greens and mint greys.

Gotstyle Dress Shirts

Gotstyle dress shirts, $165

Our in-house dress shirts will give you that in-between season pick up that you need – fabrics are light weight enough to wear now, in colors that will take you into the Fall. The fit? Of course they are darted in the back for a trim fit but not so trim that you can’t wear them to work. Priced at $165.

What’s New: House of Gods

House of Gods, Mick Jagger & Pink Floyd tees,$75-85

Buddhistpunk has collaborated both professionally and privately for artists as diverse as Schooly D, The Prodigy, The Gossip, Gary Numan, The Rolling Stones, Blondie, Guns and Roses, Aerosmith, Kylie, Britney Spears, U2, Ian Astbury, Iggy Pop, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Roxy Music, Run DMC, David Bowie, The Police and many more.

They started House of Gods in 2006 to take advantage of being the most integrated fashion house within the Rock & Roll industry. They continue in the great tradition of Rock & Roll garments and band t’s but develope their own singular style of original artwork and reinventing iconic imagery. Priced between $75 & $85.

What’s New: Religion

We have carried Religion off and on since we opened, and now we’re back on since they’ve moved passed the goth and skulls stage to a more sophisticated yet edgy club wear. The must have item for Fall? A midnight blue denim jacket ($185) that you are going to wear day into evening and if you can’t afford THE must have leather jacket by Christian Dior, Religion did an inspired version at 1/4 the price at $575.

Just brought in a great new tee shirt collection that offers graphics of a more civilized nature (as opposed to skulls and tattoos!). Tee Library‘s designs and graphics are inspired from classic, well known literature (Alice in Wonderland, George Orwell’s Animal Farm, and To Kill a Mockingbird – seen above/below), and each tee comes in a box designed to look like a vintage library book – amazing packaging! Various graphic methods are used to make the tees from photos, painting, stamping, digital or drawing and the method that is used for each tee shirt is stamped on the sleeve.

Collect all of them and you’ll look well read, but really you’ll be better dressed! Priced at $85.

T-shirts are under attack this season in the Under Cover collection by Dutch Blonde. With a vision for bullet hole t-shirts, designer Camille Prins and the creative team leaft the Metro bubble for the great outdoors. Equipped with guns and ammunition, the t-shirts are fired at to create an authentic bullet hole finish. The Lock and Load (shot with an M14) and semi-automatic (shot with a 22-caliber rifle) v-neck men’s t-shirts are available now exclusively at Gotstyle.

Camille Prins, Creative Director & Designer of Dutch Blonde, launched her first ready to wear collection in Fall 2008. At the same time she was selected as a contestant on “Project Runway Canada Season 2”. Her looks have been worn by MTV Canada hosts and style icons Nicole Holness and Jessi Cruickshank and featured on ET Canada.

We will be hosting a launch event of her Lock and Load t-shirts at Gotstyle, this Thursday from 6 – 8pm.

Staff Picks for May

May 31, 2010

Melissa C - Gold Label jacket, $185

This jacket from Gold Label has an amazing tailored fit and its construction allows for easy arm movement. Great price point based on its detailing.

Michael - Suit pants, $95

One of the brightest coloured pieces on the floor, it adds pop to any outfit. Breaking out of the norm (jeans, khakis) is essentially what these pants represent. Have some fun on a dull day!

Christine - Dr. Denim cardigan, $110

Every guy needs at least one cardigan in their closet. This one adds a bit of colour with an argyle print, light weight fabrics, and a modern fit. Even better: add a bow tie.

Joa - Umbro zip sweater

Blogger’s note: It’s usually difficult to grab Joa for a staff pick when he’s always busy suiting clients, but for this item he was more than eager to get it done. He was a little sneaky this time around and took this Umbro Official National Team zip sweater from our boxes out back. Soon to hit the floor (and an obvious hit for World Cup), you can grab these zip sweaters for different national teams. Pictured is Joa in an England sweater, which can be used at TFC games as well too.

Neale - Valsport sneakers, $95

Blogged yesterday, these new Valsport sneakers are great fashion runners with eye catching styling. They’re lightweight and can be worn in the day and night. See the write up on Valsport.

Veronica - Roussel shirts, $65

I’m really liking Roussell‘s Hamburger Champagne tee simply because there are two gorgeous men eating cheeseburgers and drinking champagne on it. Don’t ask me why – it just clicked. Love at first sight. Plus, it’s Canadian made and simply the classic “you’re so bad” edge to it. Great for summer, great for under a leather jacket or structured blazer. the unfinished seams on the sleeves also make it that much better.
