From legends like Steve McQueen & Frank Sinatra to modern day style icons Brad Pitt and Jude Law nothing says timeless fashion than owning the perfect leather jacket. Just like a well tailored suit and shirt a good quality leather jacket is a wardrobe staple and by far one of the most classic and versatile items that you can own. A well chosen leather jacket can easily take you from a casual Autumn afternoon to a fun night out on the town in a matter of seconds. So how do you pick the right leather jacket for you?

Superdry black leather jacket $550.

Details! As with everything today it’s all in the details. Take for example this black Superdry leather jacket $550 or the chocolate brown Rogue leather jacket $595 (bottom left). The wonderful high collar allows for simple wardrobe changes. Pop the collar for a casual look, or fold the collar down for something low key. Take-in the added details of the pockets and shoulder straps and you have a jacket that definitely showcases some personality.

Juxtaposed to that we have this beautiful SAND jacket ($1450, right) for someone a bit more classic. The Mandarin collar clearly showcases a refined aesthetic and the clean sillouette allows for you to easily carry this jacket from work casual to evening dinner without any fuss.

I’m a big believer that guys should own more than one outerwear jacket, you need a Fall casual one for everyday and weekends, a more formal one for business and evening and a hard core winter one for when it’s minus 30 out. We’ve got some new ones in from LAB by Pal Zileri and Drykorn that will fit the bill for your everyday outerwear. Remember your jacket is the first thing that people see, so make sure you are making an entrance!

Lab jacket is $750

Functional and stylish this jacket has a quilted liner that zips up to the neck for added protection. It’s super light weight and the perfect throw-on when it looks like it’s going to get rainy and stormy out.

Leather is making a huge comeback, good thing because the leather jacket you have in your closet is the boxy shapeless style from the 90’s. Leather jackets are an investment piece and the right one will last you for years only getting better and more worn in as you wear it. Lab’s leather jacket is well priced at $1495, with great detailing and styling.

The military trend is still in this winter, Drykorn makes this suede jacket perfect  for the military look. This is a great casual jacket that will add a bit of colour to your outfit while being warm and comfortable and makes a great statement piece.

Scarves pictured with jackets are by Allea and priced at $150.

Gold Lab – Two Angle was started in 1999, the collaboration of a NY designer and a French style house. Two Angle delivers two visions (hence the name!) NY street hip hop combined with Parisian flare.

For Spring, I loved their dropped cropped sweat shorts ($115) and motorcycle inspired sweatshirt ($95). If you’re going to go comfy casual, why not look good doing it?

And their denim utility shirt jacket is a steal at $95!

Moose Knuckle Jackets

The winter jacket war continues in Toronto, between the Canada Goosers, the Moose Knucklers, and the endless number of jacket preferences in the city. Our clear winner is Moose Knuckles – it’s warm, down filled, fitted to his proportions, and has a sweet silver logo on the side (that beats a 25 cent patch any day). Read more about them here. Stand out from the crowd of geese and let his Moose Knuckle out!

Marshall Artist

I remember back in the spring, Melissa was raving about this new line she had ordered in for the Fall/Winter called Marshall Artist. Catchy name, I know. Reasonably priced, their workwear style pieces range from shirts and cardigans to sweaters and jackets. Expect lots of plaid, earth tones, and fine detailing. It’s also a layerer’s wet dream. Read more about them here and here. Cardigans and sweaters are $110 to $125, jackets are $195 to $295.

The faded brown coloring on this is vintage inspired yet very current. The frame shape is modern yet incorporates the key hole bridge that has been around forever. In short this shade is a mix of old and new making it a great wear for cross generations of people.

Olympus PEN E-PL1

Available at The Source and other major electronics retailers

If you’ve wondered which camera we’ve been using to take shots of the clothes for the past few months, you’re looking right at it. The Olympus PEN E-PL1 is a 12-megapixel digital SLR camera with detachable lenses. It’s slimmer than your average DSLR because it’s mirror-less, and is capable of taking high definition video. We even used it to film our Ask a Stylist segments. If you’re looking for a flawless, techie gift, this is the one.

The Olympus E-PL1 12.3MP digital camera gives you the power of a DSLR and the simplicity of a point-and-shoot. Stylishly-designed, this compact digital camera lets you toggle back and forth between capturing stills and taking video all with one finger. Olympus has image stabilization built right into the body of this digital camera so any of the interchangeable lenses will deliver blur-free images. iAuto mode automatically identifies what you’re shooting and adjusts settings for you to capture the best result depending on the situation.

Too much out of your price range? We saw this Digital Mix Master iPod Dock that looks like a 1980’s boombox for $69 (regular $119). Hot deal.
