We recently had the pleasure of being inducted into Amex Canada’s #ShopSmall campaign and are so excited to hear about their latest initiative. Amex Canada is looking for Toronto’s Neighbourhood Gem to help celebrate the importance of shopping small and shopping local.

Gotstyle has been dedicated to the Toronto landscape for over 8 years. So much so, that in 2004 we were one of the only men’s only boutiques in Canada. We saw a need within the men’s market and forged forward to meet that need. Our amazing relationship with our community allowed us to be the first to launch Skype shopping in Canada, expand with a brand new store in the Distillery District, and do fun things like the Naked Man campaign and now video game. Oh, did we mention that we’ve been working on launching an online store? Shhh…lets keep that one between us.

Bottom line is that none of this would’ve been possible if not for the incredible support of our community. And with any small business having and active community is so crucial to our success, which is why we really admire the #ShopSmall initiative by Amex Canada and hope that you will take a few mins to vote for your favorite Toronto Neighbourhood Gem.

The first round of voting takes place April 2 – 21 & every time you vote, up to once a day, you have the chance to win a $50 American Express® Gift Card

What’s New: Zanerobe

April 10, 2013

It may not look like Spring but warmer, sunnier days are just around the corner and in preparation for those glorious days we bring you our latest stock from Zanerobe. This casual, yet trendy brand comes to us from Australia, where the weather is hot and the people laid back and informal. Speaking of informal, owners Leith Testoni and Jonathan Yeo came up with the idea to launch their brand off a bet over a couple a beers.

Today, the name has become synonymous with strength and masculinity and their ranges are well known internationally for their point of difference, quality workmanship and clever, bold designs. Though this line appears to caters to the slim and trim, it has great flexibility to fit most guys. The elastic chino’s have a great stretch and comfort, and the shirts are well tailored, not tight. This brand is great for the guy that enjoys being outdoors, whether he’s riding his bike around town or grabbing a few beer on a patio.

The Suit Clinic brand was founded on the principle of creating clothes for men that accommodated both casual and more formal occasions and tastes. As with every brand we carry, the Suit Clinic collection lends itself to great craftsmanship and detail and feature a classic combination of cuts and modern details noticeable in the pickstitch detail, trimming, clasps and piping.

The stylish fabrics with fun patterns and bold designs provide a distinctive character and give the men who wear it the ability to distinguish themselves from the crowd. No one man is alike – and neither should their clothes be.

Today marks the official launch of the Gotstyle Naked Man Online Video Game! Softlaunched last December, today’s wide release comes on the heels of our Grand Opening party celebrating Gotstyle’s new store in the Distillery district, the second location in Toronto and the first to cater to both men and women.

The Naked Man video game is a throwback to the popular 8bit video games of the 1980s mixing elements of PacMan and Donkey Kong and rooted in the provocative and comedic theme of the Naked Man campaign, which was launched last fall. The risqué transmedia
campaign promotes Gotstyle’s innovative video shopping service the first of its kind shopping service in North America.

The campaign and video game concept, conceived and produced by Toronto’s integrated innovation agency Dorsey/Holme Experience, debuted with a YouTube video featuring a naked man on a balcony, video shopping via his smartphone with Melissa herself. The story, showing the man in dire need of clothes, ends with a twist, and ultimately a happy ending. Promoted to Gotstyle’s social media and enewsletter followers, the video went viral notching over 500,000 views to date.

“We had so much success with the Naked Man video that we wanted a fun and cheeky way to keep guys engaged with our brand and continue to increase awareness for our video shopping service. The online video game does just that,” says Melissa Austria.

The Naked Man online video game also features a promotional component. Gamers can earn ballots, by winning and sharing their score on Facebook, valid for a chance to WIN weekly prizing from Gotstyle and eligibility for the annual grand prize of an all expense paid night out in Tdot with the Gotstyle crew.

As you can imagine, shopping is one of their key division and under that you have the famed Best Men’s Clothing Store listing.

The Best of Toronto series puts the power in the hands of the people that truly call Toronto their home. Through this initiative people of this city have the unique opportunity to paint a picture that showcases the best of the best that this city has to offer. Nominate that mom & pop shop you’ve been going to since you were a kid, or that band you just can’t stop listening too. This is your chance to nomiate the people, places and things that have impacted your community.

To many, wearing a belt is an act of necessity rather than one of style or trend. With so many variations in the market it can sometimes prove to be intimidating to endeavour beyond the staple black and brown belts.  But at some point, just like everything else in life, a man needs to step out of his shell and experience something different and new. Let’s not make this a big deal, we’re encouraging you to add some colour to your waist, not jump out of a plane, so stop the melodrama and drop by our store and try on some of these gorgeous belts.
