The Common Folk has most exclusively been known in our store only for their Japanese selvage denim ties and pocket squares, until now.
The Toronto-based brand made their well deserved debut on Hypebeast two days ago. What’s all the hype– You ask? Their one of a kind kimono inspired (Yukata & Jinbei to be exact) jackets are generating a cult like amount of buzz. Inspired and shot in streets of Japan their spring/fall lookbook stylistic inspiration for days. For some the collection is something to aspire to, but for those who know.. cop this shit.. like– now.
The only other place you can get these is on The Common Folk website. Expect seriously limited quantities. (Remember each piece is handmade.)
All of the garments have been hand-cut and stitched from raw selvedge indigo-dyed fabrics in their Toronto studio.
We’ll be dropping TWO in each size. Pre-sale later today so keep your eyes on our Instagram for the Tiger-camo and raw-navy denim pieces.
Good luck!

More about The Common Folk
Family run mills based in Okayama, Japan understand and value the nuance and history of quality fabrics making them the unquestionable leaders in selvedge fabric production. With this advanced knowledge comes a desire, as well as a self-imposed responsibility to make a superior product. Using 100% cotton fabrics, The Common-Folk extends this same unparalleled devotion and attention to detail to create the most superior Handmade in Toronto accessories. Selvedge fabrics are woven using old-fashioned denim-weaving techniques on rare vintage shuttle looms creating a denser weave and shut edges creating a self-edge, or selvedge. Natural indigo dye vats are used to impart fabrics with a distinctive deep blue surface color while uniquely partially penetrating fibers allowing it to slowly, characteristically fade.
All goods are accented with a natural dyed Alberta calf label handmade by a local Toronto leather crafter. Handkerchiefs and scarves are hand cut to feature selvedge edge from top to bottom. Selvedge straight-end and traditional 4-fold neckties are hand stitched from top to bottom and are interlined with a rare vintage USA sourced 100% natural cotton from the last American mill, as well as loop trims made of USA sourced 100% natural cotton twill tape. Self-tie bowties are highlighted by gold metal hardware, adjustable sizing strap and hand stitched edges
