Regulars at GS events know that our dos bring out the most dapper men in the city. Last week’s 19 Crimes launch event took style to bold new heights. After scouring album after album, we’ve picked our favourite and most compelling looks of the evening. Our IT list isn’t about the most daring or bizarre, it’s about those with the confidence and cool to be themselves, celebrate their true aesthetic and who possess a unique understanding of what works for their body and build.

Here’s our tribute to the attendees who set the bar high at the GS 19 Crimes event.

Last week, in true Gotstyle fashion, we threw a criminally amazing fete celebrating the Ontario launch of 19 Crimes– a winery out of Australia that produces two exceptional reds- the 2012 Shiraz Durif and the Shiraz Grenache Mataro. The event, held at our grand Distillery District location, treated the well-dressed crowd to delicious glasses of 19 Crimes wine along with an assortment of divine hors d’oeuvres. As with all GS affairs, it was our loyal customers who made the event special and stellar. Thanks to all who attended the mobster soiree and for making it yet another memorable evening.

Style Tips

Colour blocking, liquid brights, European lengths- the new, new season swimwear is less basic, more brash. Look for bolder trunks that hit above the knee (the three inch rule generally works), and in patterns that call immediate attention to toned physiques- power plaids, daring stripes and vivid hues. Add rugged accessories (beads, straightforward tees, smooth sunnies) to go effortlessly from surf to shore and revel in the dog days of summer.

See our latest editorial for swim looks to inspire (very little clothing).

**Special thank to our friends at Spectacle for the amazing sunglasses.

Style Tips

Most men can’t get away with linen suits or the chino/ short-sleeve collar combination at the office. Business still requires proper attire- no matter how scorching the summer heat. For men bound to this timeless tradition, we offer a range of polished suiting by Tiger of Sweden. Common sense dictates that short of showing up almost nude, an investment in lighter shades assists in keeping internal temperatures low. Tans, pale blues and dove greys repel heat and wear extra effortlessly. If the repertoire currently includes subtle solids, patterns like the classic windowpane check are an exemplary option- professional, distinct and full of corporate character.

Events

Last week (July 16th to be exact), GS kicked off Toronto Indy week in style with an exclusive media and VIP event honouring two-time Grand Prix racer, Simon Pagenaud. The fete, held on the posh Bloor St. terrace at LS Bistro, treated the well-dressed crowd to decadent cocktails by Grey Goose Cherry Noir and light, French-inspired canapés. As with all Gotstyle affairs, it was our loyal customers who made the event a stellar success. Thanks to all who attended- our evening was exceptionally unforgettable.

We hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and the opportunity to meet guest of honour Simon Pagenaud. We’d also like to to extend our sincerest gratitude to the ultra-amazing sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible:

Style Tips

If we had a penny for every time a man told us he is either “too young, too old, too tall or too small etc. etc. etc.” to rock a particular style or trend, then there would be ten Gotstyles. The truth of the matter is, age has nothing to do with it, instead personality and attitude are the deciding factors in adopting a trend- and making it your own. The key to embracing a specific style or article of clothing is understanding how it works for you. Shorts are a first-rate example; styling them in your 20s often differs from how 50 year olds choose to wear them.

In this GS how-to, we showcase our wide selection of summer shorts and how to pull them off at any age. Clean and classic or super fashion-forward, there is definitely a pair for everyone.
