What Suit Suits You? (VIDEO)

November 3, 2011

In the video, I’m talking a lot about half canvas and full canvas suits. What is canvas and why is it so important?

The canvas in a suit is the basis of suit tailoring; it’s the material (usually horse hair canvas) that is between the lining and the cloth of the jacket. Having a canvas jacket respects the true natural of the fabric, allowing it to breathe, move and fall better on the wearer. The more you wear a canvas suit, the more it molds to your body. A fused suit is more rigid and stiff and sits away from the body.

A canvas jacket also maintains its shape after time and repeated cleanings and doesn’t “bubble” like a fused suit does. A canvas jacket also helps to distribute stress points evenly on the suit, which helps to contain the wear and tear of the cloth – helping prolong the life of the suit. If you’re wearing a suit everyday, it’s worth it to pay more and get a suit that will last longer and look better on you.

Another quick note:
Cinque starts at a size 36 but we can do a special order for size 34 (46 and 44 European)
Paul Betenley now starts at size 36 (not 38 as mentioned in video)
Both LAB and TConcept start at size 34 (44 European)

Long awaited are the new T-Concept suits by Tombolini – the ideal suit for the slim fit figure. On the left, Max is wearing the new charcoal suit ($750) with a Altea tie ($115) and Terri Brogan sunglasses ($189) from our Kings of Past collection. Available are four new styles of Tombolini suits in black and grey solid, with varying details.

Melissa says: TConcept is one of the strongest selling suit lines in the store; modern slim fit, half canvas construction, Italian fabrics, all this for the magic price point of $800. You won’t find better value for the money out there!

If you’ve been browsing our new racks, you may have come across some new & interesting lapel designs from our Fall collection. Tailored to make you stand out from the crowd.

The new it blazer from Haight & Ashbury (right) includes a shiny, carbon fiber patterned print on the lapel. Something we haven’t seen before that we needed on our racks, pronto! Priced at $395.

From Tombolini’s TConcept line is the double lapel blazer (below). That’s right, a double lapel. The front lapel and jacket are made with soft cotton and the lining a deep satin red. Expect a slim cut, much like their suits. Priced at $550.

Almost as awesome as a double rainbow.

Can’t say we could beat the Double Rainbow Guy‘s excitement, but we were equally thrilled. On the inside.
