What’s New: Spring/Summer Cologne

February 28, 2012

Don’t think you can get away with wearing your Winter colognes into Spring and Summer. With warmer weather comes the need for lighter scents, because nobody wants to end up smelling sweaty and like winter’s rich, musky colognes. Luckily, we’ve got a variety of lighter colognes in store for you.

Hugh Parsons Piccadilly Circus $98.

Piccadilly Circus is a great night time scent, it’s dynamic and stands out from most other colognes thanks to its complex citrusy, floral, and spicy notes. Not too spicy, and not too light, perfect for hot summer nights and also works as a transition scent into fall because of its warm notes.

Bvlgari BLV and Pour Homme are $120 each.

BLV is a masculine mix of sandalwood, cedarwood, and musk; a great scent for weekends, nights out, or dates. It’s spicy and woodsy, but the notes of tobacco blossom, juniper, and ginger keep it light enough for summer.

Bvlgari Pour Homme is the classic, fresh scent every guy should have. Darjeeling tea, lilies, black pepper, amber, and musk make it a fresh and light daytime scent. It’s a refined and elegant take on the fresh-out-of-the-shower aroma, so apply right after showering and wear it with a crisp collared shirt to feel polished and prepared for the day.

DSquared Ocean Wet Wood $120.

DSquared makes a great marine cologne that also has some sweet notes to it. Together, the sweet and marine scents are reminiscent of Spring rain, wildlife, and white beaches. If you’ve ever gone to the beach after an early Summer rain storm, you know how nostalgic and amazing this smell can be. As a light scent, it can be worn both to work and casually on weekends. Switch it to a more dynamic scent for night time, like BLV.

Like their suits, Pal Zileri’s Uomo cologne is modern and elegant. Fresh and energetic summer scent with notes of mandarin, orange, and grapefruit jazzed up with violet and juicy apple. The base is a warm and neutral mix of jasmine, nutmeg, sandalwood, and vanilla.
