Trend Watch: Corduroy

October 13, 2011

SUIT shirt $125, Rouge shirt $165, SUIT shirt $125.

Corduroy is making a comeback and men are soaking it up. Today’s cord is updated with a modern fit and finer wales, adding to its sophistication. The thick nature of the fabric makes it both hard-wearing and warm, a perfect winter fabric.

Like the three shirts above, corduroy can be worn fitted with a more polished look, or in a more casual way with a relaxed fit. The charcoal Rogue shirt has wire inserts in the cuffs and collar to allow for more personalized styling options.

Marshall Artist navy cord shirt $155.

Details like the wire collar and cuffs, or the leather trim on this Marshall Artist shirt add an interesting pop to your outfit. To add more interest, wear your cord as a jacket or a layering piece, dress it up with a knit or wool tie under a vest.

SUIT pants $155.

When I was younger, I had a pair of corduroy pants. I dreaded the days when my mom would include them in my outfit. These SUIT cords are slim fitting and sophisticated – definitely nothing to fear. They can easily go beyond casual weekend wear when they’re dressed up with a nice pair of shoes and belt. Etro has a similar pair for $430, Gant by Michael Bastian $250, Bottega Veneta $875 (!!) but ours by SUIT are $155.
