Imagine what makes a proper gentlemen and tweed comes to mind. Not the ill-fitting and frizzy, oversized kind that your elders wear – we’re talking about a modern cut and softer material against your skin. And you can wear one almost anywhere.

Watch the video above to learn more about Melissa’s second favourite trend this season.

Don’t forget to take a peak at our latest post on Fall tweed blazers, featuring new pieces from Cinque, Strellson, and SUIT.

Cinque navy blazer $695.

All of us at Gotstyle are in love with texture this fall. From corduroy to velvet, leather to tweed, we can’t get enough of it! Here’s some of our favourite fall blazers that’ll add some dimension to your wardrobe.

Gotstyle tweed blazer $595.

Lets start with one of the most classic yet trendy looks for this season the tweed sportcoat. The warm neutral brown pallet matched with a modern fit bring in just the right amount of traditional, while keeping your wardrobe looking new and  current. With a very fine tweed like this, you won’t end up feeling outdated or stuck in a time warp. Match this with a nice pair of black slacks and a crisp shirt and you have a great alternative to your staple all black suit.

If you’re not loving corduroy, but want a bit of texture in your wardrobe; this Strellson blazer priced at $650 is perfect. The very fine wales give it a slight texture, but nothing overpowering. The shape of this blazer is great too, by accentuating the shoulders it becomes a very flattering and versatile piece to have in your closet.

For something more casual, Johnny Love makes this great blazer priced at $495. The heavy tweed will keep you warm and is perfect for the guy who likes to keep his weekend look more polished than casual.

SUIT blazers: $350 each.

Every fall we see a lot of greens, reds, and earthy colours which brings us to these two amazing green blazers. Depending how casual your office dress code is, these jackets can easily be mixed into both your social and work wardrobes. And if your weekends involve a lot of lunches and outings to museums, galleries etc. then having tweed blazers like these will prove to be a great asset.

Gotstyle plaid blazer with suede elbow patches $595.

Now for the guy that has a blazer for every possible situation, we recommend going bold by playing with patterns and colours. For pattern the clear winner for this category is plaid. As for colour there are some great combination depending on your occasion. If you are looking for just the right balance we recommend more of a earth tone pallet like you see above. Another great way to step up this look is to get a blaze that has elbow patches. Lets face it you can never go wrong by adding a little British flare to your ensemble.

Like I mentioned in this post, shoes say a lot about you. If you’re reading this blog, chances are: you’re ambitious, stylish, and definitely not dull. It’s not hard to go full-brogue this year when we’ve got so many styles in store. You’re definitely not dull enough for scuffed up, square-toed, plain black dress shoes.

Ted Baker $250

Traditional wingtips (or full brogues) are kept contemporary with some purple laces. These are an upgrade of the basic dress shoe, basic enough to endure years, but modern enough to get you noticed and show how sophisticated you really are.

Why are brogues so awesome? Because women love them. There’s no better way (well, other than properly fitting clothes) to impress women than good footwear. Even if you’re a junior executive or an intern just starting out, a pair of brogues says you’re going places and you’ve got serious style. Like they do with other women, they judge men by their shoes. And a man who picks brogues will always trump a man who goes to the basic black dress shoe.

Luca Vero $275

Look great with a navy suit: it stands out and is taken very seriously. Some people believe that brogues are to be worn strictly for business. But I disagree; if you show up to a bar or restaurant with a nice casual outfit, brown leather belt, fitted dress shirt, nice dark jeans, and brogues, you look like the man.

Brogues like the Luca Vero one above may look formal or fancy, but only patent black leather brogues are for formal events like weddings, funerals, or galas.

John Varvatos $298

Maybe you’re not sure about brogues, or it’s your first pair. Go simple and avoid perforations and extra details. Stick to black or brown, depending on your wardrobe and workplace. Simple brogues are also a great alternative to wearing wingtips casually or on weekends.

Ben Sherman $170

John Varvatos desert boot $198

There’s no excuse to be caught in ugly shoes, especially when we’ve got so many awesome shoes in store. John Varvatos, Ted Baker and No Brand are our favourites this season. We’ve got four kinds of shoes that will keep you covered all winter.

John Varvatos city boot $375.

Canada gets cold in the winter, we all know that. Every urban guy needs a pair of city boots that are able to keep him warm and stylish while he’s out and about downtown. Just make sure you never wear them with a suit, that’s what dress shoes are for.

John Varvatos shoe is priced at $298.

Shoes don’t just get us from point a to point b, they tell people where our point b is; slushy sidewalks and cold weather are no excuse for dull shoes. Brogues are sophisticated and detailed, they carry an air of achievement, success and sophistication. Whether you’ve reached professional or personal success or are still on your way there, those square toed, beat up shoes don’t say anything good for you.

Ted Baker boots priced at $195.

Something more modern and versatile like these Ted Baker boots are great for an active person who needs a good show to go from traveling to work, meetings and out at night. The contrast stitching

SWIMS galoshes priced at $90.

For the man who’s got a solid shoe selection, galoshes from SWIMS will keep those shoes protected from the elements.

Gotstyle Private Label Shirts $165 each.

There’s not much needed to be said about our Private Label shirts. They’ve got a modern fit, great patterns and if you’re a Gotstyle customer you probably have a few of them in your closet already. Whether you wear them to work, out after work or on weekends with jeans, these are such great shirts and the patterns for fall are awesome.

Guys, there’s nothing worse to woman than a man in ill-fitting clothes. If you’re not borrowing your father’s clothes, why look like it? A slim fitting shirt goes a long way, so stock up now!
